All Great and Small team members are Fear Free Certified. Fear Free certification equips pet sitters with specialized training to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress in pets. This means all Great and Small team members have expertise in reading animal body language, creating positive enrichment experiences, handling medications in a Fear Free way, and ensuring calmer, more enjoyable walks and visits.

We provide pet-centered care.

We handle all pets with gentleness and compassion, using only calm, respectful methods. We prioritize each pet’s unique needs by tailoring our services for each pet. We are sensitive to pets with anxiety, medical conditions, or unique quirks, and adapt care to meet these needs. We offer more than basic care by incorporating stimulating activities like games, training reinforcement, or quiet cuddles, depending on pet preferences and routine.

Safety is our top priority.

Safety comes first. We know how to avoid the most common safety issues, like door darting, inter-pet conflict, and foreign body ingestion. We have a plan for emergencies, knowledge of the nearest veterinary resources, and basic training in pet first-aid.

We are reliable, accountable, and transparent. We provide honest updates, are upfront about any incidents, and clearly communicate our rates, services, and policies. We are confidential and respect the homes and personal space of our clients. We are fully insured and bonded, and all sitters undergo a background check and employment verification to join the Great and Small team. Sitters are treated with respect, and are paid competitively with a commitment to providing a living wage.

We value client communication and engagement.

We provide regular communication and updates to clients regarding pet care, complete with lots of pictures! We carefully document and follow any and all instructions about routines, feeding, medications, or preferences to maintain consistency. We welcome feedback from clients to continuously improve and maintain high standards.
